Albanian holidays ?

Seeing as it’s pretty much the only place with no travel restrictions I might give it a go.
Any tips, decent beaches?

Worked with a few Albanians while in Greece, one of the lads showed me pics of his hometown which looked as scenic as any Greek seaside resort I'd been to but they just don't have the infrastructure to make tourism 'work'.
Shame, cos it looks da nuts.

I’m fond of Albanian people and went out with an Albanian girl for a bit, her family were lovely and made me want to visit the country. It does seem like an absolute basket case of a place though and is literally a narco state. The ratio of males to females must be high as all the young men are over here selling drugs

I was always curious about Albania, and when I lived in southern Italy I would often ask folk about Albania cos you could get a ferry there from Bari.
Everyone without exception said Albania was shit and full of cunts.

I'm looking to relocate and this thread made me curious about Albania, which is just across the road from Corfu.
You can get a lovely 1-bed appt overlooking the sea for £300 a month.
Very tempted.

But I want to go to Melnik first.
The population of a village in what used to be a city. In the best wine district of Bulgaria.
Problem is, current-day connections are shit. You'd have to drive, as the buses are rubbish and there is no train.
TBF, it probably used to be the best wine district of Bulgaria. Hey, the journey's the thing. The destination is secondary.

Durres is a nice beachy area - half decent bars, decent restaurants (in 2013 anyway). Only something silly like half an hour from Tirana as well - get the train if you like hideous trains.
I'm going to Tirana in February, should be grim. Can't wait.

I met Norman Wisdom in Albania once, lovely man
The first time I went it was by bus but you'd be better off flying to be honest. It took best part of three days to get there and they wouldn't even let our bus into the country so we had to walk across the no man land between Yugoslavia and Albania

Sarande, get a boat over from Corfu, it's bang opposite Kassiopi. When I first went to Kassiopi about 25 years ago, at night you'd see the odd light, now it's really built up.
